Anti-allergic cosmetics and epidermal sensitivity

In view of the pathophysiological characteristics of sensitive skin, irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis, it is necessary to develop targeted cleansing, moisturizing products, and even targeted anti-allergic and antipruritic products. First of all, facial cleansing products should try to use cleansers that are non-irritating, mild in action and have the effect of stroking the skin. The frequency of use should be appropriately reduced, and the cleaning action should be gentle when using, and the time should not be too long. Moisturizing products should focus on moisturizing. For consumers with obvious symptoms, they should use anti-allergic, anti-itch and soothing products with obvious efficacy.
1. Cleaning Products
Cleansers work by using surfactants to reduce the tension between non-polar substances and water, thereby removing dirt from the skin. Modern cleansers are made up of a mixture of oils and nut oils, or fatty acids derived from these products, in a 4:1 ratio. Cleaners with a pH value of 9-10 are more likely to cause irritation to “allergic” people because of their alkalinity, while cleaners with a pH value of 5.5-7 are the first choice for “allergic” people. The cleaning principle for “allergic” people is to minimize pH changes, healthy skin can bring its pH back to 5.2-5.4 within minutes of cleaning, but “allergic” people’s pH does not return to normal quickly . Therefore, neutral or acidic cleansers are better, which are believed to balance pH and are suitable for “allergic” skin.
2. Moisturizers
After cleansing, hydration is important to restore the “allergic” skin barrier. Moisturizers do not repair the skin barrier, but create an optimal environment for repairing the skin barrier. This is done with two base formulations: a water-themed oil-in-water system and an oil-themed water-in-oil system. Oil-in-water systems are generally lighter and less slippery, while water-in-oil systems are generally heavier and more slippery. Basic moisturizers work best on facial redness because there are no mild irritants such as lactic acid, retinol, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid.
3. Anti-allergic and antipruritic products
Commonly referred to as “anti-allergic products”, it refers to some repairing products used by people who are prone to “allergies”, including their daily care and improvement, inhibition of irritation, soothing inflammation and allergies. At present, the cosmetics industry has carried out extensive research on natural anti-allergic substances.
The following substances are generally recognized in the industry as some of the active substances with anti-allergic and anti-irritant properties:
Hydroxytyrosol, proanthocyanidins, blue cigarette oil (cell repair); echinacoside, fucoidan, total glucosides of paeony, tea polyphenols (structure maintenance); trans-4-tert-butylcyclohexanol (analgesic and itching) ; Paeonol glycosides, baicalen glycosides, total alkaloids of Solanum (sterilization); Stachyose, acyl forest aminobenzoic acid, quercetin (inhibition of inflammation).
On the basis of cleaning and moisturizing, the main strategy for developing anti-allergic product formulations is to rebuild the skin barrier and eliminate harmful factors.
